Don Jones is a pianist, music director, arts entrepreneur, and nonprofit founder whose career spans Broadway, regional theatre, higher education, and arts leadership.
Trained in piano from an early age, Don attended the world-renowned Interlochen Arts Academy for high school and continued his studies at New England Conservatory and Long Island University, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree, cum laude, in Piano Performance.
From 2001–2013, Don worked in New York City as a professional pianist, accompanist, and music director. He has music directed and performed on piano and keyboards for more than 120 musicals and appeared in over 5,000 performances. His work includes concerts for audiences exceeding 10,000 attendees and rehearsal or keyboard work for Broadway productions including Wicked, The Little Mermaid, Flower Drum Song, and Wonderland.
A highly sought-after audition accompanist, Don has played for tens of thousands of AEA and non-AEA auditions across the country, primarily in New York City, and is known for his exceptional sight-reading ability and collaborative musicianship.
In addition to theatre work, Don has performed at many of New York City’s most iconic venues, including Cipriani, The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, The Four Seasons Restaurant, and New York Marriott Marquis.
Now based in Atlanta, Don is the Founder and Executive Director of The Studios Brookhaven, a 7,000-square-foot arts and athletics facility serving hundreds of students weekly. The Studios offers arts and athletics classes and features a gym space that converts into an intimate black box theatre for performances and showcases.
Don is also the Founder and Board Member of The Atlanta Institute for Musical Theatre, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing new musical theatre works and providing high-level educational opportunities for performers of all ages. Under AIMT, Don launched ACT Jr, a middle school conservatory-style training program, with ACT (high school division) launching in Fall 2026.
He has served as an adjunct instructor in the Musical Theatre Department at Brenau University and is a frequent guest pianist at Oglethorpe University. Don also serves as Director of Music at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church.
His greatest works of art are his daughters, Allie and Emily. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, Kate, and their dogs, Morgan and Max.
