The Atlanta Institute for Musical Theatre (AIMT) was founded on a simple premise: Atlanta actors deserve expert-level training in every aspect of musical theatre — and that training should be accessible to all. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, AIMT also exists to advance and foster the development of new musical theatre works.
Founder Don Jones conceived AIMT in the fall of 2022 and invited fellow theatre professionals Kristine Reese and Greg London to serve as Board members, ensuring the organization is guided by leaders with extensive professional theatre backgrounds. Three words define the heart of AIMT: Enrich. Elevate. Empower.
Mission Statement (Excerpt):
AIMT aims to advance and enrich the musical theatre community in Atlanta through the production of new works and provision of educational opportunities for actors of all ages and abilities.
ACT Jr: Our middle school musical theatre training program — is currently in its inaugural year. ACT Jr provides focused, conservatory-style training in acting, vocal performance, and movement for young artists who are ready to deepen their skills in a structured and encouraging environment.
ACT: Launching in Fall 2026, this program will expand to high school performers seeking advanced training. Designed for students preparing for competitive theatre programs, professional opportunities, or simply a higher level of artistic growth, ACT will build on the same core principles of discipline, collaboration, and artistic excellence.
Whether you are preparing for your first audition or pursuing professional-level work, AIMT exists to support artists at every stage of their journey.
